Bhaṇḍu
1. Bhaṇḍu, Bhaṇḍuka.– A non-returner lay disciple, son of a sister of Devī, and therefore cousin of Mahinda and Saṅghamittā. He accompanied Mahinda to Sri Lanka, and was ordained, on the day of their arrival, at Ambatthala. He attained Arahantship immediately after. Mhv.xiii.16, 18; xiv.29, 31 f; Dpv.xii.26, 39, 62, 63.
