Magga Sutta

1. Magga Sutta.– The Buddha tells the monks how, as he meditated under the Ajapāla-nigrodha tree, the conviction came to him that the only way to nibbāna was the cultivation of the four foundations of mindfulness. The Brahmā Sahampati read his thoughts, and, appearing before him, confirmed this view. S.v.185 f. See also Brahma Sutta S.v.167 f.

2. Magga Sutta.– The Buddha tells the monks how, while yet a Bodhisatta, he discovered the method of cultivation of the bases of success (iddhipāda). S.v.281.

3. Paṭhama Magga Sutta.– Wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, and wrong action lead to hell, their opposites to heaven. A.ii.227. Similarly … are censured by the wise and accumulate much demerit. A.ii.229.
