1. Paṭhama Mārapāsa Sutta.– Taught at the Migadāya in Isipatana. The Buddha tells the monks that he realised supreme emancipation by means of systematic attention (yonisomanasikāra), and asserts that he is free from Māra’s snares. S.i.105.
2. Dutiya Mārapāsa Sutta.– Taught at Isipatana. The Buddha declares that he is free from all snares (pāsa), both celestial and human, and exhorts the monks to wander forth for the good of the many. He himself was going to Senānigāma in Uruvelā to teach. S.i.106.
3. Paṭhama Mārapāsa Sutta.– Monks, there are sights pleasing to the eye, charming and enticing … sounds pleasing to the ear … odours … flavours … touches … ideas pleasing to the mind, charming and entiicing. A monk who welcomes them and remains clinging to them has come under Māra’s control, and is snared by Māra.
A monk who does not welcome them, and does not cling to them is not under Māra’s control, he is not snared by Māra. S.iv.91.
4. Dutiya Mārapāsa Sutta.– Similar to the above. S.iv.92.
