Mātugāma Sutta

1. Mātugāma Sutta.– No woman can persistently possess the heart of a man who is influenced by gains and flattery. S.ii.234.

2. Mātugāma Sutta.– Endowed with five things a woman is surely displeasing to a man. What five? She is not beautiful, she is not wealthy, she is not virtuous, she is lazy, she is not wise. Endowed with the opposite qualities she is surely pleasing to a man. S.iv.238.

3. Mātugāma Sutta.– Endowed with ten things a female lay disciple (upāsikā) is dragged off to hell as surely as if taken and thrown there. What ten? She is one who takes life (pāṇātipātinī hoti), she takes what is not given (adinnādāyinī hoti), she commits sexual misconduct (kāmesumicchācārinī hoti), she tells lies (musāvādinī hoti), she speaks slander (pisuṇāvācā hoti), she speaks harsh words (pharusavācā hoti), she engages in idle chatter (samphappalāpinī hoti), she is covetous (abhijjhālunī hoti), she harbours thoughts of ill-will (byāpannacittā hoti), she holds wrong views (micchādiṭṭhikā hoti).

Following the opposite course she is dragged off to heaven as surely as if taken and thrown there. A.v.286.
