Puṇṇakamāṇavapucchā

The questions asked by Puṇṇaka, pupil of Bāvarī (q.v.), and the Buddha’s answers thereto.

Those who make sacrifices and exert themselves for gain of pleasure and praise do not succeed in escaping birth and decay.

Only the calm and the free can so escape. SN.vs.1043‑48. They are explained in CNid.11 ff.
