Samphassa Sutta

1. Samphassa Sutta.– The Buddha questions Rāhula about eye-contact: whether it is permanent or impermanent. Likewise regarding ear-contact, nose … tongue … body … mind-contact. Rāhula replies that they are impermanent. The Buddha says that by seeing thus a Noble Disciple becomes dispassionate towards eye-contact … mind-contact, and is thus dispassionate, and freed from suffering. S.ii.246.

2. Samphassa Sutta.– Eye-contact is impermanent, changeable, and becomes otherwise. Ear-contact … nose-contact … tongue-contact, body-contact, mind-contact. One who knows and sees this is called a faith-follower, one who is destined for awakening. S.iii.226.

3. Samphassa Sutta.– The arising of contact by the six senses is the arising of decay and death; and, similarly, its cessation. S.iii.230.

4. Samphassa Sutta.– The desire and lust that is in the contact of the six senses is a corruption of the heart. S.iii.233.
