Āveṇikadukkha Sutta

There are five special (āveṇika) woes that a woman has to undergo as distinct from a man:

1. at a tender age she goes to her husband’s family, leaving her relations;
2. she is subject to menses;
3. she is subject to pregnancy;
4. she is subject to labour at child-birth; and
5. she has to wait upon a man. S.iv.239.
